Pocket Docket Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Pocket Docket ("Pocket Docket," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Pocket Docket mobile application and related services.
Information we handle
Depending on the features you use, Pocket Docket may handle:
- Account information, such as your email address and authentication identifiers used to create and secure your account.
- Household information, such as household membership, member names or labels, roles, and sharing permissions.
- Schedule and goal information that you choose to create, including event details and goal progress.
- Contact information that you choose to enter or import for use in Pocket Docket.
- Location information when you choose location-based features, such as setting a home location, using your current location, or attaching location information to app content.
- Technical information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and maintain the service.
How we use information
We use information to provide Pocket Docket features, authenticate users, synchronize household data across devices, apply sharing and access permissions, support location and contact features you choose to use, maintain security, troubleshoot problems, and improve reliability.
Household sharing
Pocket Docket is designed for household collaboration. Information you mark for household sharing may be visible to other members of that household. Private or member-specific information is intended to be limited according to the sharing choices and permissions available in the app. Please avoid placing sensitive information in shared fields unless you want the permitted household members to see it.
Service providers
Pocket Docket uses Google services, including Firebase, to provide functions such as authentication, cloud data storage and synchronization. Information processed through those services is also subject to the applicable Google/Firebase terms and privacy practices. Pocket Docket does not sell your personal information.
Permissions and your choices
Features involving device location or contacts are optional and depend on the choices and permissions you provide. You can decline device permissions, although related features may not work. You control what information you add to Pocket Docket and, where offered, whether an item is private, household-shared, or shared with a particular member.
Data retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may request deletion of your Pocket Docket account and associated personal data. Instructions are available at getpocketdocket.org/delete-account. Some information may need to be retained where required by law or where necessary to protect the service and its users. Data shared into a household may also be affected by household ownership and other members' legitimate access.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including authenticated access and access controls for cloud-hosted data. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
Pocket Docket is intended to be used by households under the supervision and account management of responsible users. Pocket Docket is not intended to invite children to independently provide personal information without appropriate parent or guardian involvement. Household managers should use care when adding information about dependants.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Pocket Docket changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when the policy is revised.
